Great Sailing Day

Left Long Island, Thompson Bay, headed for the north end of Long Island, Calabash Bay.  You know the spot that Columbus stopped at on his voyage to find North America.  Well the winds were great, 15 to 20 from the ESE and the waves were gentle so we decided to go further, Cat Island.  We had planned on going to Cat the next day so this would just make it happen sooner.

Continued with great winds, the seas built a little but for the day we were in the zone.  Eight hours of sailing and averaged 7.5 knots for the trip.  It is only 65 miles and in a car that would be an hour but for us it was a bit longer.  Got into Cat Island, Joe Sound Anchorage at 5pm.  No pictures but a great sailing day.

2022-03-06 Thompson Bay, Long Island Bahamas

It has been a fairly uneventful week for us.  Not much going on.   Decided to take advantage of a weather window and sail from George Town, Exuma, to Thompson Bay, Long Island.   We knew another strong wind front was coming through, so needed to move and then we new we would have to sit for 3 to 4 days while the strong winds were present.

Nice sunset in George Town at our anchorage.

2022-02-07 Georgetown Bahamas

We have been in George Town a week now, and it has been a busy week.

We are anchored at Monument beach, so called as there is a large "monument" at the top of the hill.

There are a couple of trails up to the Monument, and Kris did them all.  Dean did two of them

2020-02-20 Little Ragged up to Georgetown

We were planning on staying a little longer in the Ragged Islands, but a weather window came up to head north to George Town on the Exuma's Islands.  Being low on groceries, needing more propane, short on gasoline for the dinghy, and needing to get some hardware, we decided to leave and take advantage of the weather.

At anchorage in the cut between Little Ragged and Ragged Island.  Charm on far left.

2020-02-13, Little Ragged Island, Snake attack!!

Haven't done much since last week.  Took some nice walks, and relaxed on boat.  Dean made a nice batch of cinnamon rolls.

Look much better than Kris's cookies from last week.

Little Ragged - strong winds, beach walks

We had a few days of strong winds, so pretty much just stayed on the boat.

Saw a max of around 28 knots, while waiting out a 3 day blow

What to do while sitting on the boat:  Watch movies, read books, surf internet and, make cookies of course.   Kris is trying to eat a low carbohydrate diet, so tried a new cookie recipe.

Double Breasted to Little Ragged

We spent a nice couple of days at Double Breasted Cay.  Met some nice folks.

Rita on "Como No", took some time to teach me Bahamian Weaving.  You use silver palm fronds to weave.  I just made a small item to learn from, but will try bigger projects later.
