2022-03-06 Thompson Bay, Long Island Bahamas

It has been a fairly uneventful week for us.  Not much going on.   Decided to take advantage of a weather window and sail from George Town, Exuma, to Thompson Bay, Long Island.   We knew another strong wind front was coming through, so needed to move and then we new we would have to sit for 3 to 4 days while the strong winds were present.

Nice sunset in George Town at our anchorage.

View of anchorage at Thompson Bay, Long Island.  About 50 boats here.   8 years ago we would have seen around 10 maximum.

Grocery store at Long Island, well stocked.

Inside grocery store.

Nice rainbow.  You can see the weather is not great.

Windy and rainy day.   Not enough rain to fill tanks, very sporadic and in short bursts.

I started working on a new rope basket for the dinghy to hold the dinghy anchor, as the last one met an early demise in a dinghy incident and was lost overboard, along with the dinghy anchor.   We have replaced the dinghy anchor, but are using a milkcrate to hold the dinghy anchor.  The milk crate is too large, and bulky, so a new basket is in order.

Start of the basket base

The line I am using for the basket is the cores from our old halyards.  One halyard was red, and the core is more of a pink color.  Not our first choice, but what other better use for worn out line?

Basket is not done, but getting close.

Not pretty, but functional, and free (except Kris's time)

  1. Interesting basket for the dinghy anchor....just leaving us wondering about the "rest of the story" about the "dinghy incident"!!
