2022-09-11 Visiting family

We had a good time in Boise with our son Derek, this was a short visit, while he had time off work for Labor Day.

We took a break from the 100 degree weather, to  float the Boise River, which was great fun.

This is a popular thing to do.  The water is clear and cold, and you can rent tubes to float on.

After two days with Derek, we headed a few miles west, to spend time with Deans family.  His older  brother Lee and wife Edie live in a nice home near Middleton, Idaho.  We were thrilled that Deans younger brother Terry was able to fly out for the week from his home in Minneapolis, and Deans Mom also joined us, leaving her Independent living apartment nearby to move in with Lee for the week so we could all be together.

We took the opportunity to take some family photos.

OK Mom, only been a year since we were together

After a few days with Deans family, we rented a car and drove 5.5 hours west west to Bend, Oregon to see Kris's  family.

Drive from Idaho to Bend, Oregon is long, with some  open high desert.

Usually we can see the mountains in the distance, but the smoke from fires was keeping the view hazy.

We were fortunate again, to have Kris's sister Kay, and husband Pat drive over to spend time.  Family photos were once again on the agenda.

Had a couple of visits from wildlife while at Bend.

We will spend another day in Bend, then drive back to Boise to see Derek some more before returning to the boat.
