Moving south, slowly. Bad weather.

We have moved south slowly.   We left Nassau on December 29th, and motored over to Normans Cay.  Our friends on Bedouin were there, so we had a nice walk on the beach with them catching up.

Next day, we went to Fowl Cay, where we worked on our Dodger project a bit, and hung out on the boat for a couple of days avoiding south winds.   When they died down, we headed north to Soldier Cay, and anchored there within the Exuma Land and Sea Park, in order to snorkel the Sea Aquarium.   We did the snorkel, but were not that impressed, we thought we remembered it as being better last time in the Bahamas.  Since you have to pay to anchor in the Exuma Land and Sea Park, we left the next day and sailed down to Pipe Cay.

We liked Pipe Cay, and ended up staying there for 7 days.  Did some snorkeling, worked on the dodger project, hiked on shore and relaxed.   Unfortunately, did not take many pictures.

Our view at Pipe Cay

Walking beach on east side of Pipe Cay

Walking large sand bar on east side of Pipe Cay at low tide.

Saw some nice coral heads - this was a small one, did not have the camera with me for the really nice ones.

Nice large 4+ foot stingray

Cute animals on land walks as well

In the Bahamas, lots of animals that live in shallow water are sand colored, as the water is so clear, they need to blend in to hide from predators

Almost walked into this guy while hiking.  This spider has 4 white strands radiating from it. Have not seen this before.

After 7 days, we left and went a whole 5 miles to Staniel Cay.  Anchored, went in, dropped off garbage, got some fresh veggies at the market, and then left again and sailed down to Big Majors Cay.  Anchored for just the night, and the next day sailed to Lee Stocking Island, as a couple of fronts are coming through, and we needed a place that we could have almost 360 degree protection from the strong winds coming.  We are hoping that we will have good protection for the next week here.
