BIG WIND, little wind

We stopped in Elizabeth City NC at the Mid-Atlantic Christian College free dock.  They have really big people here.

When we came north we found this great food spot.  Wanted to make sure it was still serving good food.  Just our luck they were closed for cleaning and a team meeting so will have to do it next time.

BIG WIND: Heading south down the Alligator River we had a forecast for winds out of the north and winds in the 10 to 15 range, great conditions.  Reality was winds out of the north and winds 20 to 30 which required a double reef in the main sail and kept the boat going 6.5 to 8 knots, not as great conditions.  Since the winds were out of the north and we were heading south the waves were not that big of an issue.

When we got to the Alligator River swing bridge we were concerned if the winds would be too high for them to open the bridge but not an issue.

After the bridge we continued south but ended up with just the jib and still managed a respectable  5.5 to 6.5 knots.

little wind; The next day we left from the east end of Pungo River and sailed past Bellingham onto Oriental NC.  This time we had north winds and winds were in the 5 to 10 knot range.  With the lighter winds and direction we ended up hoisting our spinnaker and had a great sail.
