Window project

We noticed that our salon windows had a couple of cracks and were in need of being replaced.    If we can get this done prior to the colder weather then the majority of the rest of projects are inside.  So today I started by removing the sun visor and stored it on the jib for now. The fun starts with getting the acrylic, cut, drill and install, for now just the port side.  Figured I would keep the project small in case, or when, I make a mistake.

had a good day getting the old window out.  Used it as a template on the new acrylic for the shape and screw locations.  The screws use a rubber T bushing and I was not able to save all of them so in the hunt for new ones.

The area around the window is painted black so after removing all the sealant I went ahead and painted the area white.  With the clear acrylic the black would look out of place.  We are also going to use 3M4000 UV white sealant to bed the window.

Yes there is a window on the port side, will see what happens after we put the visor back on.

The aft window came out nicely, the new one was cut, drilled and put back in.

For some reason 2 holes did not match up so epoxy the holes in the boat and will drill new holes when the 3M4000 UV is put down.

Did not have to use any heat to bend the acrylic to have it form to the boat.
it is brighter on the inside

Have rain coming tomorrow so had to tape off the windows until the 3M4000 arrives.

It is raining hard and no leaks :)
