We left New Haven in a slighty foggy morning, and motored to Old Saybrook. It
was a bit of a tense motor. Even though we have AIS (Automatic Identification
System) on board, not all boats use it. So even though we can electronically see
some boats, we can't see all boats as we don't have radar.
We have thought about
getting radar, but it is just one of those expenses that has low use, but really
high priority when you need it. At times we could only see about 1/4 mile visibility.
We broke out of the fog right about the time we got to the entrance to the Connecticut River.

The sun came out, and we motored in to North Cove Yacht Club at Old Saybrook. They will allow you to tie to a mooring for 3 days for free.
We met up with our friend John there, as he lives close by, and enjoyed some time with him. John was also kind enough to allow us to mail things to his home, and he brought the packages out to us. Did some projects in Old Saybrook, got groceries, and took a couple of walks.

Saw bunny on one of our walks, He was not very afraid of us. |
We spent our three days in Old Saybrook and did not want to pay to stay, so we motored up to New London. Only a three hour trip, and we sailed for most of it until we got to the Thames River Entrance, then motored up to our anchorage spot.
We walked up to the grocery store, and went by a Five Guys on the way, so stopped and had lunch as well. Next day winds looked good so we set sail for Newport, Rhode Island.
