Anchors

All boater have their favorite anchor and usually no other is acceptable.

Our first anchor was between a CQR and a Bruce claw.  At the time there was not a lot easy searchable info but we decided on the Bruce.  It did well on Honalee and we were happy.

When we went again there were several "new" anchors out and after reviewing, judging, evaluating we decided on the Manson supreme.  On What If we were once again very happy with the holding, setting, and keeping the boat secure.

So now we are at the review phase and evaluating the "new" anchors again.  While the list is still open it looks like the captain is happy with the performance of the Excel anchor.  This would be the 3rd type of anchor we would have used but it would also be fitting to have a 3rd on Charm.

The anchor is just the start of the anchoring discussion because then you have to add in the type of chain, (BBB, HighTensile, Stainless Steel), the size of chain (5/16, 3/8, 7/16), is it all chain rode or do you splice in line.  You are trying to balance the weight issue with not worrying about dragging and there are many opinions on each.  The final and best decision is ⥷⥭⥫⥥⤎➱⇨⇎↨
