2022-10-30 Moving further south - Beaufort, SC

We spent a couple more days in Charleston, waiting on our Amazon locker to get fixed so we could get packages.  Finally got ahold of a good customer service rep, who informed us that no action on repair had occurred, so we opted to cancel our order we were waiting on, and then re-order all the items to pick up further south.

Made a quick trip for some fresh groceries, and then headed out.   Motored along the ICW, just enjoying the scenery.

Very very long dock going from shore to out where the water is deep enough for a boat.  Common along this stretch of the ICW

Met this tug with tow coming towards us.   Did not realize how long it was.

This is the end of the same tug with tow, you can barely see the lead tug in the photo.  Had three smaller tugs near the back of the tow to keep the back from straying out of channel, and hitting other boats, land or docks.

Love the Live Oak trees with Spanish Moss in the area,  this one had a nice Halloween spooky look

Spent one nice quiet night out in a river at anchor, and them motored the rest of the way to Beaufort, SC.

Beaufort sits on the banks of the Beaufort River, which has quite the current that switches with tidal change.  We anchored just off the river in a marshy inlet, but it is narrow and has quite the current as well.   Made us a little nervous the first day as we watched how the boat was swinging, got quite close to land, but no issues, plenty of depth close to the bank.

You can see we get pretty close to the bank

Charm sitting nicely in the narrow marshy inlet, looks like plenty of room from this view, but with tidal changes, we swing towards land and the docks a bit more

Walked into town to get groceries, and found some beautiful Live Oaks

Don't worry folks, there is a McDonalds across the street we will hit later, just felt like a change of pace.

Our friends on What If came into the anchorage yesterday, and will be here a couple of days with us, before we head south again.

Charm and What If anchored in river.

We also took some time to visit with Royce on Cerca Trova, another Manta 42 catamaran that is at a dock nearby.  His was the last Manta catamaran built, so interesting to see what changed between our hull 94, and his hull 127.    Did not see many design changes that we would really want, we are quite happy with Charm.

We will walk into Beaufort tomorrow to pick up our Amazon packages, and see Halloween decorations.  Should be warmer as well, which will be great.  Tired of a daily of in the 60's - need above 75 to make Kris happy.  Plan on heading south later in the week.
