Going down the list

When we mapped out the things that needed to be done prior to sailing we made a list, no surprise there.  It kind of went like this:

1) decided we were going to go cruising
2) decided on the type of boat we wanted, shopped for the boat, buy it
3) sell the house
4) minimize the amount of stuff you have so it will fit on the boat
5) fix/repair anything that is needed on the boat
6) load the boat up and go sail

So far we have done 1 and 2.  As of today #3 is active and the house is listed on the MLS for sale.  We were thinking that in Jan/Feb 2021 would be the ideal time to do items 3 and 4 on our list,  but with  COVID 19 and the election coming up, we started thinking maybe it would be smarter to sell sooner.   Currently the housing market in Boise is hot and the houses in our neighborhood are selling with in a week.  Hopefully it goes fast for lots and lots of money to help fund the cruising kitty.

So now we are looking for apartments that we can rent for 6 months to tie us over from the house sale until  we move to the boat.  Now you might say just move to the boat now, Kris has said that a lot, but we still need to get some things done prior to leaving so not an option.  Kris's job is still going strong and Dean has picked up a short term job watching for fires at the new Amazon building.  The building doesn't have the sprinkler/fire alarm up and running yet and the state/city required a short term fix.  Several people 24 hours a day watch for smoke/fire and will sound the alarm if they see it.  Not a very efficient method but it meets the demands placed on the builder.  Not a very challenging way to spend 8 hours but Dean does get to walk around the 650,000 sq ft floor.

So we are getting closer to item number 6 and it is only 235 days away, (no one is counting though).

Update 8/7
Well we did get an offer and are suppose to sign paperwork on 8/17 so now we have to get rid of some of our belongs.  Going from a 2200 sq ft house to a 220 sq ft boat requires some downsizing.  We have used craigslist to sell many of our larger items and now have a yard sale scheduled to get rid of the rest of the items.  Since Derek is going to stay on land this time he will "get" to keep many of the items for his apartment.
